Usage Examples

Use images with the same dimensions for best results.

Lower FPS (5-10) works great for slideshows.

Higher FPS (15-30) creates smoother animations.

Smaller output size = smaller file size.

Frequently Asked Questions

PNG, JPG, GIF, and WebP. Each frame image can be up to 10MB. The tool automatically converts all frames to the same format and color depth when building the GIF. Transparent PNG frames are supported — transparency is preserved if you keep the transparent background option enabled.

Up to 50 frames per GIF. Adding more than 20-30 frames to a GIF tends to produce large file sizes (several MB) since GIF uses lossless compression per frame. For long animations, consider lower resolution or fewer frames to keep the output manageable. The tool shows the estimated output size before you download.

Frame rate (frames per second) controls how fast the animation plays. 10 FPS is a standard animated GIF speed — smooth enough for most animations without excessive file size. 24 FPS matches film and gives silky motion but creates much larger files. 5 FPS gives a choppy, flipbook feel. The "delay" setting is the inverse: delay = 1000ms / FPS. For example, 100ms delay = 10 FPS.

Loop count controls how many times the GIF repeats after the first play. 0 means infinite loop — the GIF plays forever, which is standard for most web and social media GIFs. 1 means it plays once and stops on the last frame. Setting a specific number (e.g. 3) makes it play exactly that many times before freezing. Most platforms (Twitter, Discord, Slack) override loop settings and play GIFs infinitely anyway.

Yes. Each frame has its own delay setting (in milliseconds), separate from the global frame rate. This lets you hold certain frames longer — useful for animations with a pause on a key moment, or slideshow-style GIFs where each image should display for 2-3 seconds before transitioning.

You can set the output width and height in pixels. The tool maintains aspect ratio by default — change the width and the height updates proportionally. Smaller dimensions reduce file size significantly: a 400px GIF can be 4-5x smaller than the same animation at 800px. A good rule of thumb for web: keep GIFs under 500px wide and under 2MB for smooth loading.

After uploading images, they appear as a frame list. Drag frames to reorder them, or use the up/down controls. You can also remove individual frames without re-uploading everything. The preview updates in real time so you can see the playback order before generating the final GIF.

No. GIF creation runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript Canvas and GIF encoding libraries. Your images never leave your device. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or transmitted.

What is GIF Maker?

GIF Maker is a free browser-based tool that turns your images into animated GIFs. Upload multiple photos, arrange them as frames, adjust the speed and size, and create a looping animation in seconds. No software to install, no account required, and your images never leave your device.

How It Works

Upload your images, drag them into the order you want, set the frame rate and output size, then hit Create. The tool uses gif.js to encode frames into a standard GIF file entirely in your browser. You can preview the result before downloading.

Use Cases

Product demos and tutorials, before-and-after comparisons, social media content, memes, UI animations, progress sequences, and photo slideshows. Anywhere you need a short, looping animation without video overhead, a GIF does the job.

Privacy and Security

This tool runs entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API and gif.js. No images are uploaded to any server. No data is collected, no cookies track your files, and everything is gone when you close the tab. Safe for personal photos, client work, and confidential content.
